Haydée Before Paris

A story about Haydée · 2 chapters · Read the novel this is based on

This is fan fiction. An original, unofficial story written by a contributor to this site, not by Alexandre Dumas. It is not part of the actual novel and should not be mistaken for Dumas's own writing.

The novel discloses, in a dramatic courtroom revelation, that Haydée is the daughter of Ali Pasha of Yanina, sold into slavery after her father's betrayal and death, and purchased and raised by the Count as his ward. This two-chapter story imagines the day of that betrayal itself, and the years of captivity that shaped a princess into the composed, watchful young woman who would eventually help bring down the man responsible.
